Students at the National Star College are enjoying inspiring workshops with internationally acclaimed writers thanks to a grant from Gloucestershire County Council’s Build Back Better Scheme, which aims to help communities recover from the impacts of COVID.

Cheltenham Poetry Festival is running Writing for Wellbeing workshops at the centre as part of an on-going community programme.  After the workshops, students will be invited to read their poetry and prose at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival (14-24 September), giving the opportunity to interact and share their work with a new audience.

This month poet Juliet Morton has been offering the students inspiring workshops on the theme of the senses – and she has been delighted and impressed by the quality of the poems created at her sessions.

The workshops at National Star are part of an extensive programme of outreach activities which are designed to take art to the whole community.
