Many of the Festival’s events allow members of the audience to read at an open mic. Usually slots are limited to 12 per event and are for one poem lasting no more than two minutes. Slots cost £3, just select an open-mic ticket at the checkout.
The Festival is in many ways a victim of its own success with open-mic tickets selling out within a day or so of going on sale. To allow everyone who wants to read at the Festival, we have brought in some changes. These are:
- If you read at one open mic, you are asked to not buy an open-mic ticket at the next two open-mic events.
- We operate a reserve list for people who were too late to buy a ticket, to get on the list just email cpfboxoffice@yahoo.com to put your name down. If a slot holder pulls out or fails to turn up, the slots will go to the first person on the reserve list (obviously you will need to have a general audience ticket for this to work).
- We will keep a record of reserve list readers who fail to get a slot and will attempt to find a way of allowing you a chance of reading at some point during the year.
